Genius is anything but subtle. An encounter with one is one one neither overlooks nor forgets. Whatever genius you happen to know will essentially be the most distinct human being you have ever met. You will consider it an insult to sum their mind up as being intelligent.
The genius connects with nature on a fundamental level. To its mind, everything is connected. They can either explore the entire universe via a single intellectual window, or see many windows as one. It would be mistaken to think Mozart was a musician and not a physicist/natural scientist. Or Shakespeare was a poet/novelist and not a mathematician/philosopher.
The genius tastes from the wine of the Gods and describes it to the rest of humanity via their creations.
The last, most useless sign of genius is a high IQ. It should be one's last resort, when they have just 2 seconds to prove that they are not completely senseless. A genius takes an IQ test to validate the test.
